Adam Koffler's Updated PPR Rankings vs. RotoBaller Consensus

Adam Koffler's PPR Rankings, updated as of 9/3/2021. Below you'll find my tiered rankings by position compared to the RotoBaller consensus staff rankings.

In this article, I'll highlight a handful of players at each position that have significantly risen or fallen in my rankings over the past few weeks.

Remember, these are full-PPR rankings, thus bumping up high-volume pass-catchers and running backs that are utilized in the passing game.

Editor's Note: Our incredible team of writers won two writing awards and received 12 award nominations by the Fantasy Sports Writers Association. A big congrats to our very own Byron Lindeque (Golf) and Jordan McAbee (NASCAR) for both winning Writer Of The Year awards! Be sure to follow RotoBaller's analysis and advice all year long, and win more. Win More With RotoBaller!

Risers

Trevor Lawrence (+3) - I've come around on Lawrence. Even without Travis Etienne and D.J. Chark Jr., he looked fantastic in the Jaguars' third preseason game vs. the Cowboys. Granted it was against a mixture of first-stringers and reserves, but Lawrence looked methodical marching down the field. He carved them up, completing 11-of-12 passes for 139 yards and two scores, with a perfect 154.5 QB rating. And maybe Jacksonville plays more uptempo than we originally thought:

Justin Fields (+5) - I'm starting to believe we see Fields sooner rather than later. He looked really good in the preseason, extending plays with his legs and making some crazy throws in tight spaces. Even though Matt Nagy has named Andy Dalton his starter for Week 1, it's hard to imagine Dalton finding much success in prime time against the Los Angeles Rams. My prediction, Fields is named the starter no later than Week 4, at which point he'll become a fringe-QB1 in fantasy football.

Risers

James Robinson (+12) - With Travis Etienne out for the season with a Lisfranc injury, Robinson now becomes the primary pass-catching back in Jacksonville. That's in addition to his likely featured role in the offense. Sure, Urban Meyer signed his former college recruit, Carlos Hyde, but Robinson is the far superior talent at this point in both of their careers, and he also has the pass-catching role, which we all know is a major boost for a player's fantasy value. Don't forget, Robinson saw 60 targets in just 14 games last season.

Gus Edwards (+20) - With J.K. Dobbins now out for the season with a torn ACL, Edwards takes over as the lead back in Baltimore. And don't think for a second Edwards isn't a capable runner. He's rushed for over 5.0 yards per carry in each of his first three seasons in the NFL. Now, he's likely to handle most of the work on first and second down. While he may not see many targets, he's almost a lock to see 225+ carries this season and is a candidate for double-digit touchdowns. At a minimum, Edwards should be viewed as a low-end RB2.

Devin Singletary (+7) - Singletary has looked really good this summer, and head coach Sean McDermott has taken notice. I like Singletary more now than I did prior to watching him in the preseason. While I believe this is still a timeshare between him and Zack Moss, Singletary has the pass-catching upside I want in PPR formats.

Fallers

Michael Carter (-20) - He may end up leading this backfield at the end of the season, but for now, Michael Carter is buried on the depth chart behind both Tevin Coleman and Ty Johnson. Coleman was handpicked by new head coach Robert Salah to join him in New York (they were both previously in San Francisco), and Johnson has been impressive in the preseason. We also still don't know how good this Jets offense will be, so I likely won't be investing in a fourth-round rookie running back that could be a part of a committee in an unknown offense.

David Johnson (-13) - Not only did the Texans keep five running backs on the 53-man roster, but it looks like Mark Ingram II and Phillip Lindsay are ahead of Johnson on the depth chart. I want no part of this Texans offense, especially the third running back on the depth chart. Full fade on all the Texans' backs.

Risers

Laviska Shenault Jr. (+12) - I'm moving Shenault way up in my rankings as a result of the Etienne injury. I believe he becomes used in the capacity we all believed he'd be used this season prior to the Jaguars drafting Etienne in the first round. Look for screen passes, quick slants, and even some work out of the backfield for the swiss-army knife that is Laviska Shenault Jr. Sky is the limit for the second-year wide receiver out of Colorado.

Corey Davis (+4) - I can't stop moving Corey Davis up my rankings, and here's why:

Fallers

DeVonta Smith (-6) - Listen, it's not that I don't think he'll have a fantastic rookie season. I still have him as my WR35, but I'm tempering expectations for now. Zach Ertz is going to get his targets, along with Dallas Goedert. We've heard all offseason that Jalen Hurts seems to favor his tight ends and running backs. While I expect Smith to get his fair share of targets as the Eagles' clear WR1, the volume might not be as high as it once seemed.

Kenny Golladay (-4) - He's barely practiced all summer and he's got a history of hamstring injuries, which can linger and be extremely tricky. Oh, and he's learning to play with a new quarterback in a new system and with one of the NFL's worst offensive lines.

4 12 Jonnu Smith 13
5 13 Evan Engram 15
5 14 Gerald Everett 14
5 15 Cole Kmet 16
5 16 Mike Gesicki 12
5 17 Hunter Henry 21
6 18 Zach Ertz 19
6 19 Austin Hooper 17
6 20 Tyler Conklin 25
6 21 Rob Gronkowski 18
7 22 Hayden Hurst 30
7 23 Anthony Firkser 20
7 24 Jared Cook 24
7 25 Adam Trautman 22

Risers

Jonnu Smith (+2) - Mac Jones should benefit the entire offense, including Jonnu Smith, who seems as poised as ever to breakout this season for the Patriots after signing a four-year, $50M contract in the offseason. And look at his usage in the preseason:

Zach Ertz (+3) - Ertz is now apparently happy to be in Philadelphia and wants to end his career there. He's got one year left on his contract, and you better believe Jalen Hurts will utilize him as a safety blanket along with fellow tight end Dallas Goedert. These guys will both get their fair share of targets. Goedert has the upside, but there's still value to be had in Ertz, who averaged 6.5 targets per game last season.
