Daily Fantasy Baseball Streamers - Waiver Wire Picks for Sunday 8/22

Jazz Chisholm - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB Injury News, DFS and Betting Picks

Top daily fantasy baseball streamers and waiver wire adds for 8/22/21. Mike Marteny identifies MLB hitters and starting pitchers to stream based on matchups.

Welcome to another edition of our daily fantasy baseball streamers! Are you playing in leagues with daily moves and looking to beef up those rosters? We here at RotoBaller are there for you and all of your streaming needs. Whether you are just trying to get that elusive category win or you are trying to make up for a lackluster start by Cal Quantrill against the hopeless Twins to start the week, we can help. Each day, RotoBaller will provide you with some of the best streaming options to consider in both shallow and deep fantasy baseball daily leagues. Streaming hitters and pitchers to exploit matchups are important to help you win your league.

It is important to know your league if you're going to stream. I'm not just talking about which teams your leaguemates root for. I'm talking about whether strikeouts count against you for hitters or if fielding stats are included. Most importantly, you need to know how many transactions you have per week. You don't want to blow your allotment within a couple of days. You can also use these recommendations to help build your DFS lineups. This article will use rostered percentages and position eligibility from ESPN leagues.

We only have four pitchers going that are rostered in more than 90% of ESPN leagues. Eight more are owned in more than half of leagues. That leaves us with a large pool of 18 pitchers to try and pull a win or strikeouts out of. Can we do that? Absolutely!

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Hitter Streamers for 8/22 - Shallow Leagues

Jazz Chisholm (2B/SS, LHB, MIA) - 49.4% Rostered

Matchup: at CIN RHP Vladimir Gutierrez

Chisholm has been in my article all weekend against the Reds. If you jumped in on Friday, he has given you a homer, two runs scored, four RBI, and a steal over the past two days. He doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon and is leading off for a Marlins offense that isn't as bad as most think. There's still some counting stats hidden in this pickup to finish off the weekend.

Myles Straw (OF, RHB, CLE) - 43.2% Rostered

Matchup: vs. LAA LHP Jose Suarez

Suarez is a solid pitcher, but I'll still go after him with Straw. Straw doesn't offer much in the way of power. However, Straw is leading off against lefties and is hitting .346 with three RBI, eight runs scored, and a pair of steals in the last week. If you're behind in steals, Straw is an elite pickup.

Ian Happ (OF, LHB, CHC) - 34.4% Rostered

Matchup: vs. KC RHP Carlos Hernandez

Happ is hitting .333 with a pair of homers and five RBI over the last week. He is one of the few "old" Cubs still left and is now in an important part of the lineup. There will be good RBI chances here against the Royals and their pitiful bullpen.

Aledmys Diaz (2B/3B/OF, RHB, HOU) - 29.6% Rostered

Matchup: vs.SEA LHP Tyler Anderson

Anderson has been solid with the Mariners, but this Houston offense is still a dangerous unit. Diaz has filled in nicely for Abraham Toro, who is now in the other clubhouse. He is hitting .320 with a homer and four RBI in the last week and is a strong fill in at a couple of different positions if you find yourself thin closing out this week.

Hitter Streamers for 8/22 - Deeper Leagues

Frank Schwindel (1B, RHB, CHC) - 21% Rostered

Matchup: vs. KC RHP Carlos Hernandez

Since taking over full-time for Anthony Rizzo on August 1, Schwindel is hitting .366 with four homers, nine runs scored, and 15 RBI. He saw his hitting streak come to an end against the Royals, but Schwindel still has three homers and nine RBI in the last nine games. He will help in every category but steals right now.

Connor Joe (OF/1B, RHB, COL) - 16.1% Rostered

Matchup: vs. ARI RHP Taylor Widener

For some odd reason, the Rockies have Joe batting leadoff.  Joe is hitting .318 since August 5 with five homers, 13 RBI, and seven runs scored. So what if he isn't stealing bases? He's finding the bleachers at Coors with regularity. Those of you who grabbed the cup a' Joe for the weekend got a pair of RBI for your troubles. Expect more of the same tonight.

Nicky Lopez (2B/SS, LHB, KC) - 11.6% Rostered

Matchup: at CHC RHP Alec Mills

Lopez has been a beacon on a team full of average-at-best players of late. He is hitting .360 with a homer, three RBI, five runs scored, and seven stolen bases in the last week alone! I know I said Straw in an elite pickup for steals, but Lopez is just as good, if not better because of position scarcity. Lopez has swiped four bags in four games. He can win you steals by himself right now!

Jake Meyers (OF, RHB, HOU) - 4.6% Rostered

Matchup: vs. SEA LHP Tyler Anderson

Meyers has three homers and nine RBI in the last eight games for the Astros while sporting a .341 average. He has filled in admirably for Kyle Tucker. Roll him out there for as long as he keeps starting. Meyers has shown good power early in his major league career.

Pitcher Streamers for 8/22 - Shallow Leagues

Touki Toussaint (RHP, ATL) - 39.1% rostered

Matchup: at Baltimore

I know some of you are still hamstrung and upset at Touki for his disaster against the Brewers to close out July. However, Toussaint has been serviceable since then. He has allowed six runs in 16.2 innings over three starts since then with 15 strikeouts. Those aren't great numbers, but they are definitely good enough if you are in a close matchup and need ratio help. He also has a great shot at a win against Baltimore.

Pitcher Streamers for 8/21 - Deeper Leagues

Alec Mills (RHP, CHC) - 6.3% rostered

Matchup: vs. Kansas City

I would run Adrian Houser out there against the Nats, but players have been hit-and-miss coming out of COVID protocols. Fortunately, we have Mills who faces an equally bad and perpetually rebuilding Royals team. Mills hasn't allowed more than three runs in a start all season, so he's not going to blow up our ERA. The downside is that Mills isn't a prolific strikeout guy. The Royals are among the league leaders in strikeouts though, so we could see Mills notch a half dozen with a shot at a win without ruining ratios. That's solid in deep leagues.
