The Minnesota Twins selected Mainland Regional High School right-hander Chase Petty with the No. 26 overall pick in the 2021 MLB amateur draft on Sunday night. Petty is one of the hardest-throwing high school pitchers and was able to dominate with that heat in New Jersey. He has the stuff to develop into an ace at the major league level with his ability to hit triple digits, and on top of it he throws strikes with three pitches. He does it at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, with little effort and has pretty command of his pitches at a young age. Petty also has a nice high-80s slider that plays well off his fastball and he is very confident on the bump. His undersized build is probably the biggest question around him and whether he can stay healthy. Petty is an impressive youngster, though, with obvious strikeout upside with that kind of heat.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
