Semyon Varlamov Starts On Tuesday Versus Washington

New York Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov is the team's starter in Tuesday's home game against Washington. The Isles are looking to protect an outstanding 15-1-2 home record against Alex Ovechkin's squad. Varlamov is back between the pipes after Ilya Sorokin beat the Flyers 3-2 in a shootout on Saturday. The two Russians have shared the starts pretty evenly in recent weeks. Varlamov makes his 26th start of the campaign on Tuesday. He has a 15-7-3 record for the year with a 2.26 goals-against average, a .919 save percentage and three shouts. It's been a very solid season by Varlamov, but he owns a lowly 1-3-0 record against the Capitals, so it looks like an uncomfortable matchup for him.
