John Nogowski Makes Cardinals Opening Day Roster
St. Louis Cardinals first baseman John Nogowski was informed that he had made the Opening Day roster, Ben Frederickson of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Sunday. After making his major league debut in 2020, Nogowski was on fire throughout Spring Training, slashing .379/.526/.586 with two home runs and a 3:9 K:BB ratio in 20 games. Through his career in the minors, Nogowski has shown 15-homer potential with the ability to get on base at a high rate with a career .375 OBP — which includes a 2019 performance in which he set a career-high with a .413 OBP. His value will be limited with the presence of Paul Goldschmidt in the lineup, but when he gets into the lineup he's an interesting option in deep, NL-only leagues and OBP formats.
