Joe Panik Makes Blue Jays Roster
Joe Panik has made the club's opening day roster. The veteran utility player was in camp as a non-roster invitee and will need to be added to the club's 40-man roster. He was informed that would likely not occur until Major League Baseball's deadline to set rosters because the Jays' roster is currently full and other decisions still need to be made. Panik performed OK this spring with a .310 average and BB-K of 2-1 but he hit just one extra-base hit. Last season in the majors, he produced an 83 wRC+ in 41 games with the Blue Jays. He can play second base, third base, and shortstop but has limited fantasy value.
