Luis Campusano Makes MLB Debut Friday, Serves As DH
Luis Campusano is among the starting nine for Friday’s contest against Oakland, which will mark his big league debut. Ranked as the Padres’ No. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline, Campusano had never played a game above Class A Advanced before Friday, but he did slash .325/.396/.509 with 47 extra-base hits as a 20-year-old. San Diego’s catching situation has become crowded amidst the Trade Deadline acquisitions of Jason Castro and Austin Nola, which likely caps Campusano’s ceiling over the final month. Primarily a keepers league and DFS commodity over the next few weeks, the right-handed bat faces southpaw Jesus Luzardo in his debut Friday.
