St. Louis Cardinals left-handed pitcher Kwang Hyun Kim has been tabbed to take the rotation spot left voided by Carlos Martinez, thereby opening up Cardinals closer’s duties. Kim served predominantly as a starter during his time in Korea, but opened the year in the St. Louis bullpen as injuries and absences piled up. Having compiled a 17-6 mark with a 2.51 ERA last season in the KBO with a career-best 4.74 K/BB ratio, Kim will have some initial season-long and DFS intrigue as hitters adapt to his pitch mix. The closer’s spot now appears to be a competition between Giovanny Gallegos and Ryan Helsley, but manager Mike Shildt has been mum on who will get the ball in the 9th.--Jesse Borek
