Matt Carpenter Scratched from Wednesday's Game
Matt Carpenter was scratched from Wednesday's Grapefruit League game due to back tightness. He was removed from the lineup shortly before the first pitch, replaced at third base by Nolan Gorman. Carpenter seems to go through back issues every spring, and was limited to just 129 games last season. He hit a disappointing .226/.334/.392 in 2019, but makes for a somewhat intriguing bounce back candidate, especially in leagues where he maintains positional flexibility around the infield. For now, there doesn't seem to be much concern about Carpenter's back, but it's something to keep an eye on as spring progresses.
