NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco released his list of 20 players on the roster bubble on Thursday. Notable players in fantasy-relevant positions are wide receivers Kendrick Bourne and Jordan Matthews, rookie tight end Kaden Smith and running back Jeffery Wilson. Bourne led Niner receivers with 487 yards last season but has suffered drop issues this training camp. Newcomer Matthews has earned raving reviews but his lack of contribution on special teams could render him an expendable backup wideout. Drafted in the sixth round, Smith’s potential cut is surprising but he’s been outplayed by second-year tight end Ross Dwelley. Wilson, who has three touchdowns this preseason, saw his roster hopes skyrocket with the latest setback to running back Jerick McKinnon (knee).
