Jordan Spieth's failure to make the Tour Championship is perhaps one of the most surprising things to happen in 2018. Unfortunately for Spieth, the inability to make it to East Lake may also carry some financial repercussions or possibly even worse consequences. Based on the "Strength of Field Regulation," players are required to add a new event to their schedule or play in a minimum of 25 tournaments during the calendar season. The BMW Championship was Spieth's 24th event of the year, and the failure to make it to Atlanta will have the American come up one tournament short of fulfilling his duties. The violation carries a $20,000 fine or a three-tournament suspension. We assume Spieth will avoid suspension and pay his penalty, but it is a situation worth monitoring.--Spencer Aguiar - RotoBaller
