The New York Jets signed wide receiver Deontay Burnett to the practice squad on Sunday. Burnett and rookie QB Sam Darnold played together at Southern California, and beat writer Manish Mehta received this text from a USC Insider: "Getting Burnett is a steal. He (and) Sam will be the duo when they put him on the active roster. Watch." The 20-year-old receiver apparently flew under the radar during the draft process, but the Jets look like they mined a gem. If he and Darnold do jell on the practice field like they did at USC, perhaps Burnett will have some fantasy appeal down the stretch this season.--Daniel Dobish
