Hunter Dozier Hits First July Homer

Kansas City Royals first baseman/third baseman Hunter Dozier is one of the team's key pieces in their rebuild, but before he can help the team rebuild, Dozier has needed to find a way to rebuild himself. Dozier finally drilled a home run on Sunday in Yankee Stadium to give him his first round-tripper since June 23. Dozier has been wallowing in a horrendous slump that has cratered his season batting average down to .208 and worried everyone in the organization. Since that last home run, Dozier has hit just .171 with five extra-base hits and struck out 35% of the time. The crux of his problem seems to be that he's hammering the ball into the ground 44% of the time, and he doesn't have the speed to turn those into singles very often. Dozier's still young enough that there's potential, but he's not worth owning right now.
