Lourdes Gurriel Drives In Three Against Mets
It’s been two games since the Toronto Blue Jays recalled shortstop Lourdes Gurriel to the big club, but so far, so good. Gurriel picked up a hit on Monday against the Detroit Tigers in his return but took a step forward on Tuesday against the New York Mets by finishing 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. While it was a nice night for the 24-year-old, we wouldn’t expect much moving forward. In multiple stints in the big leagues this season, Gurriel is slashing a poor .225/.244/.388 with four home runs, eight runs scored and 11 RBI in 80 at-bats. Solid minor league numbers made Gurriel a somewhat popular add earlier in the season, but the intrigue here is all but gone unless he becomes more consistent.
