Zack Wheeler Stellar Against Pirates
Zack Wheeler has enjoyed a tremendous 2018, coming into his own after Tommy John surgery in 2015 followed by a few other injuries. On Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates, he may have had his best outing yet. Wheeler hurled seven scoreless innings, allowing only five hits and a walk while striking out seven. It was the fourth time in Wheeler’s last six starts he allowed two runs or less. His 4.47 ERA on the season may not be indicative of how well he’s pitched overall (a few blowups are to blame for that), but there’s no doubt Wheeler has improved to a huge degree this season.
