Mitch Walding Takes J.P. Crawford’s Roster Spot

In the aftermath of J.P. Crawford fracturing his left hand after getting hit on it Tuesday night, the Philadelphia Phillies went to the minor leagues to fill his voided roster spot. Infielder Mitch Walding, who already had a brief stint in the majors at the end of May and beginning of June, was once again promoted and even made an appearance in Wednesday’s victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. The 25-year-old would strike out in his only plate appearance, making that seven strikeouts in seven plate appearances this season. In 61 games at Triple-A Lehigh Valley this season, Walding hit .259 with nine home runs and 37 RBI. He has no fantasy relevance for now.
