Dewayne Dedmon Exercises Player Option

Atlanta Hawks center Dewayne Dedmon has exercised his player option for the 2018-2019 NBA season, Yahoo Sports' Shams Charania reports. Dedmon, who started in 46 of the 62 games he played in last season, is coming off his best season in the league. He averaged 10 points and 7.9 rebounds per game last year for the Hawks. Dedmon, who missed time early in the season with a leg injury, lost his starting spot to Miles Plumlee after returning from the injury, but earned the role back by the end of the season. Dedmon's fantasy value next season will depend greatly on what the Hawks do in Thursday's draft, but if the team doesn't pick a big, then Dedmon will retain value in most formats. If he's relegated to a bench role, he'll be nothing more than a waiver wire option in the event that Atlanta's new starting center is injured during the season.
