Justin Verlander Silences Yankees Hitters For Seventh Win
Justin Verlander is finishing up his month of May the same way it began, by shutting down the New York Yankees. Verlander went 6 2/3 innings Monday, allowing only one run en route to the Astros 5-1 win over the Yankees. Verlander (7-2) also beat the Yankees on May 1 by throwing eight shutout innings and striking out 14. He struck out five in this contest while his ERA took a slight bump to 1.11. Fantasy owners know a player is dominating when a one-run performance actually hurts the pitcher's ERA. Verlander is the best pitcher going in the American League right now and hopes to continue his dominance into June.
