With the goalie pulled, Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson found Alex Ovechkin for a patented one-timer goal to bring the Caps within one in Game 5. Unfortunately, that is as close as they would get, losing the game 3-2 and trailing in the series for the first time. Carlson is enjoying the most productive postseason of his career, now with 15 points (three goals, 12 assists). He bested his previous career-high 12 points set in the 2016 playoffs, and he sits second in the league in defensive scoring, trailing Winnipeg’s Dustin Byfuglien by just a point. Carlson has four assists through five games this series and should be a reliable DFS option as Washington faces elimination in Game 6.--Kevin Acorn
