With Masahiro Tanaka struggling early for the New York Yankees on Tuesday night, the offense found itself in an early three-run hole. Although they made opposing starting pitcher Gio Gonzalez work hard for his outs, it wasn’t until the fourth inning when their first runs came in. The two runs scored in that frame came off the bat of first baseman Tyler Austin, who drilled a two-run home run to right, cutting the deficit to just one.
