If catcher Devin Mesoraco can start hitting for his new team, the New York Mets, he’ll be the best catching option the club has had in quite some time. He made his starting debut on Wednesday after serving as a pinch hitter on Tuesday, and at the plate it didn’t go so well. Mesoraco finished 0-for-4 with two strikeouts, lowering his slash line to a putrid .196/.260/.304. The thought is that he’ll at least be receiving consistent playing time with the Mets, something he wasn’t getting with the Cincinnati Reds, and allowing him to get into a rhythm will help Mesoraco get back to form. It’s a nice idea, but the results remain to be seen. Either way, at a position such as catcher that produces barely anything from a fantasy perspective, if you wanted to take a flier on Mesoraco with his new club, we couldn’t blame you.--John Smith
