Masahiro Tanaka Falls Apart Late In No-Decision

For more than half of Thursday’s New York Yankees game against the Houston Astros, the road team was rolling, seemingly on their way to another shutout victory. On the mound was Masahiro Tanaka, who allowed only three hits through the first six innings, also striking out five along the way. In the seventh inning, however, he faced significant adversity, giving up a pair of hits to lead off the frame before plunking the third man. Facing a bases-loaded jam, manager Aaron Boone went to the bullpen, which failed to keep the lead. When it was all over, all three of Tanaka’s baserunners came around to score, resulting in a no-decision for the 29-year-old.
