New York Mets outfielder Michael Conforto will have the night off on Wednesday against the Atlanta Braves. Atlanta is starting southpaw starting pitcher Sean Newcomb, and Conforto sits about half the time when the Amazins take on a left-hander. A breather here probably can’t hurt the 25-year-old. Conforto’s struggles have been well-publicized. He’s slashing a terrible .209/.372/.299 and hasn’t homered since his debut on April 5. Still, there’s not much reason for concern here. It was always expected that it would take a few months for Conforto to get going again after undergoing significant shoulder surgery last summer. If he’s still hitting like this come mid-June, then you can inch closer to the panic button.--John Smith
