Offenses to Target for FanDuel Stacking

For my stacks tonight, I'm picking on two mediocre (that's putting it kindly in regards to Lobstein) pitchers taking the mound in home run friendly parks, in games that have a Vegas projected run total of 8.5 runs. Oh, and both pitchers struggle mightily versus right-handed batters.

• Twins RHB versus Kyle Lobstein
• Red Sox RHB versus Kevin Gausman

Honorable Mention: Reds LHB versus Tim Hudson

 

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel

Clayton Kershaw (SP, LAD) - $13,500

Ah, the age old question - do I pay up for the most expensive pitcher on the board tonight? I think with the case of a guy like Kershaw - that is, a reliable ace that you pretty much know what kind of performance to expect from - the answer always lies in the opponent. Tonight that opponent is the Rockies, away from Coors and in a pitcher's park, in a game with a over/under Vegas has pegged at just six runs. A look a little further into the numbers reveals the Rockies, a team, strike out in over 23% of their at-bats against southpaws and are dead last in the league in team wRC+, at 64. I'm buying Kershaw tonight.

Garrett Richards (SP, LAA) - $8,400

Richards takes the bump tonight on the heels of a stretch in which he's produced a quality start in six of his last seven and in his most recent outing, he notched a career high (11) in strikeouts. Considering that, his fair price tag and the fact he takes on a weak Mariners' offense in a pitcher's dream park makes him a strong play tonight. Despite being able to load their lineup with left-handed hitters, the Mariners still rank in the bottom of the barrel in quite a few offensive categories against RHP. They strike out in nearly 22% of their at-bats against righties and their .309 wOBA and 98 wRC+ are less than impressive, as well.

 

DFS Infielders to Consider for FanDuel

Matt Wieters (C, BAL) - $2,400

Wieters gives me exactly what I'm looking for today at the catcher spot - power upside at a price well below 3K. He is not only a career .485 slugger against left-handed pitching, he's also taken E-Rod deep before.

Travis d'Arnaud (C, NYM) - $3,900

If cash isn't an issue at backstop, d'Arnaud is your man this evening as he handles left-handed pitching quite well, to say the least. Travis has a .556 wOBA and .414 ISO against southpaws in 2015 and should be able to pick on rookie Justin Nicolino this evening.

David Ortiz (1B, BOS) - $4,800

Watching Big Papi chase that 500th home run these past few games has been special. Once he got in range, there was really no stopping him. In the past two weeks, Ortiz hit six home runs and owns a slugging percentage of 1.026. (No, not a typo.) What makes this matchup even more juicy is that in the nine times he's faced Gausman, he's hit a home run twice.

Brandon Belt (1B, SFG) - $3,000

At this price and with impressive splits, I think Belt plays pretty nicely as a cash game or GPP guy. He takes on a weak pitcher in Sampson and his .374 wOBA and .201 ISO against RHP are appealing.

Brian Dozier (2B, MIN) - $3,000

He doesn't own the hottest of bats right now, but Dozier comes at a fair price, hits at the top of an order I expect to do damage tonight, and owns real impressive splits against lefties - .385 wOBA, .254 ISO, and .533 slugging.

Justin Turner (3B, LAD) - $2,700

I like Turner for a few reasons tonight - moderately priced, owns right-handed pitchers (.413 wOBA, .213 ISO) and he hits at the top of the order.

David Wright (3B, NYM) - $3,500

If you'd rather pick on a different rookie pitcher than the one Turner faces, David Wright gives us plenty of reasons to consider him in tonight's matchup. It's a small sample for the season considering all the time he's missed, but in 2015 against LHP, he owns a .495 wOBA and .273 ISO.

Carlos Correa (SS, HOU) - $3,600

Of all the shortstops on the board tonight, sure, Correa faces one of the best pitcher in Cole Hamels. But take a look at the other options, what you'd pay for each and what their splits are - and I think Correa still comes out on top as the best option. He handles southpaws extremely well and plays tonight in a home run friendly park in Arlington.

 

DFS Outfielders to Consider for FanDuel

Aaron Hicks (OF, MIN) - $3,000

Hicks will be a part of my Twins stack tonight, but with impressive wOBA (.428) and ISO (.236) against LHP this season, he's a strong cash game option as well.

David Peralta (OF, ARI) - $3,200

I really like this matchup not only due to Peralta's impressive splits, but he takes on a home run pitcher in Shields in a park that's conducive to long fly balls leaving the field of play.

Bryce Harper (OF, WAS) - $5,300

You'll have to reach deep into your pockets to afford some Harper shares tonight, but his recent numbers and the fact he's facing a pitcher that pitches to contact means you're going to want some Bryce exposure tonight.

Nolan Reimold (OF, BAL) - $2,500

Reimold is an intriguing GPP play tonight, as he doesn't hit for a ton of power, but does own strong splits against LHP. This season, he's slugging .522 against southpaws and this game is being played at Camden, a positive for power factors.
