Former title challenger Gilbert Burns retired from the sport of mixed martial arts after suffering a third-round TKO loss to Mike Malott in the main event of UFC Winnipeg on Saturday. It was a back-and-forth fight where Burns and Malott exchanged for 2 and a half rounds before Malott landed a devastating right hand that dropped Burns. Burns did manage to get up, but was then knocked down again, and the fight was stopped by the referee. In 12:08 of action, Burns landed 40 significant strikes. It was the fifth straight loss for Burns, who turns 40 in July.
