Matt Chapman 2026 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: A Healthy Season Should Yield Better Results
San Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman missed roughly five weeks of action in the 2025 season due to hand injuries. As such, his final line of .231-21-61-76-9 in his 128 games fell short of his typical output. It is worth noting that stretching his pace out to the 647 plate appearances he enjoyed back in 2024 would have resulted in a more robust .231-25-74-92-11 line. Little has changed under the hood for Chapman, which is encouraging for his prospects in 2026. Notably, Chapman displayed a better eye at the plate than in years past. His 23.6% strikeout rate was his lowest since 2019, and his 13.3% walk rate was the highest of his career. Assuming he stays healthy, Chapman can push for 25-plus home runs and should see improved RBI production with Rafael Devers and the recently signed Luis Arraez setting the table in front of him. Chapman slots in at 163 overall in RotoBaller's current rankings, just ahead of his NFBC ADP of 165. Chapman's production relative to his cost makes him a good fallback option for fantasy baseball teams that can withstand the drag he will be on batting average.
