Pablo Lopez 2026 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Recent Elbow Injury Has Lopez Falling Down the Ranks
Minnesota Twins right-handed pitcher Pablo Lopez (elbow) had an injury-riddled 2025 season, dealing with a shoulder injury that kept him out of June, July, and August. He returned in September and made an additional three starts for the Twins, and finished the season with an excellent 2.74 ERA and 1.11 WHIP to go along with 73 strikeouts in 75 2/3 innings pitched. While his strikeout percentage was a bit lower than in the previous two seasons, he made up for it with an excellent ERA. Lopez made 32 starts in his previous three seasons leading up to 2025, and reportedly came into Spring Training healthy, until news surfaced on February 17 that he had been diagnosed with a torn UCL and that "surgery is very much on the table". While nothing is fully confirmed right now, and Lopez is slated to get a second opinion, the news that broke makes him un-draftable in redraft leagues for 2026 and a dynasty stash at best. Lopez is 29 years old and, barring any news to the contrary, has possibly thrown his last pitch with the Twins. Joe Ryan and Bailey Ober will be moved up in the rotation, with Lopez likely to miss the 2026 season, and the final three spots of the rotation will likely be up for grabs between Simeon Woods Richardson, Taj Bradley, Zebby Matthews, and Mick Abel.
