Freddy Peralta 2026 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Expect Regression But SP2 Talent Remains
Freddy Peralta will be calling somewhere other than Milwaukee home for the first time as a Major Leaguer. While there's always a question mark over how a player adapts on a new team, it's Peralta's underlying numbers that suggest we see regression this year. Peralta set career-highs in innings (176 2/3), starts (33), and wins (17) in 2025. He also had a career-best 2.70 ERA. That's despite a 3.85 xFIP and 3.68 SIERA. Given Peralta had a 3.68 ERA, 3.93 xFIP, and 3.78 SIERA in 2024, believing in another sub-3.00 ERA season is going to lead to disappointment. That's not to say Peralta shouldn't still be taken as an SP2. Last year was Peralta's third straight year making at least 30 starts and topping 200 strikeouts. There's nothing to suggest he won't be able to reach those marks again. Peralta still walks too many batters to cement himself as an SP1, evidenced by his 9.1% BB% last year. Peralta's consistency and reliability make him one of the safest starting pitchers in the earlier rounds. If you load up on hitting with your first few picks, Peralta is an ideal option to anchor your rotation.
