Kenley Jansen 2026 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Closing Out a Hall of Fame Career
Detroit Tigers reliever Kenley Jansen will continue his Hall of Fame career in the Motor City. Jansen is the MLB active saves leader and is only 26 saves away from 500. Jansen enjoyed an excellent year as a Los Angeles Angel in 2025, posting a 2.59 ERA with a 0.95 WHIP while collecting 29 saves across 59 innings. Unfortunately, when you look under the hood, you will see had a 3.94 SIERA with a career-low 24.4% strikeout rate. In addition, his .195 BABIP and 85 LOB% suggest he may have been a bit lucky as well. Although Jansen is expected to be the Tigers' primary closer entering the season, the team has not formally committed to him in that role, leaving open the possibility of a closer-by-committee approach. With that said, if Jansen comes out of the gates strong, it seems unlikely the Tigers would take him out of the role, especially with him approaching the 500 save milestone. However, if the 38-year-old from Curacao does falter, Will Vest and Kyle Finnegan will be right there to take his job. In most fantasy leagues, he should be your second or, better yet, third drafted closer.
