Lane Kiffin Working to Keep Defensive Coordinator Blake Baker at LSU
According to On3.com, LSU head coach Lane Kiffin is aiming to keep defensive coordinator Blake Baker in Baton Rouge, but the 43-year-old is also a top candidate for the Tulane head-coaching job. Baker has flashed as a defensive coordinator in the SEC over the last four seasons, including two years at Missouri and two years at LSU. The Tigers fell well short of their National Championship goals in 2025, but Baker's defense was one of the best units in the conference. Kiffin's defensive coordinator at Ole Miss, Pete Golding, accepted the permanent head coach job for the Rebels, so Baker leaving for Tulane or another destination would leave Kiffin looking for an entirely new defensive play-caller. This season, LSU ranked fourth in the SEC in points per game allowed (18.3).
