When is Omarion Hampton coming back? Will Omarion Hampton play again this season? Read about Omarion Hampton's return date and injury updates for 2025 as of Week 14.

Los Angeles Chargers rookie running back Omarion Hampton (ankle) has been sidelined since suffering an ankle injury in Week 5 during their loss to the Washington Commanders.

However, the former UNC standout has begun to make significant progress in his recovery and appears to be in play to return this weekend.

Omarion Hampton Injury Update for Fantasy Football

While Hampton was able to return to practice last week in a limited capacity, the Chargers opted not to clear him to return. Following last week's final practice session, coach Jim Harbaugh noted that the rookie has progressed well but not enough to see game action.

However, on Monday, Hampton received a very positive update. NFL on CBS national reporter Matt Zenitz reported that Hampton is expected to return to action in Week 14 when the Chargers face the Eagles on Monday Night Football.

While fantasy managers will need to monitor his progress during the week in case he faces any setback, he is trending in the right direction and should be in a great position to make his long-awaited return in Week 14, just before the fantasy football playoffs.

Omarion Hampton Fantasy Football Outlook

Given that Hampton is trending in the right direction for a return this week, managers should feel confident putting him into their starting lineup as a high-end RB2. Before his injury, Hampton was gradually taking over the backfield as the veteran option, Najee Harris, suffered a season-ending Achilles injury. In the two games in which Hampton saw at least 55 offensive snaps (Weeks 3 and 4), the rookie looked dominant, averaging 26.2 PPR points per game.

During this two-game stretch, he saw 6.0 targets per game and averaged an elite 6.4 YPC. In Week 5, before exiting with the injury, Hampton was on pace for another productive performance, taking 12 carries for 44 yards and bringing in all six of his targets for another 26 yards.

Given Hampton's ability to draw a large number of targets, he will continually provide a very high floor in fantasy, even if they choose to monitor his workload early on. In his absence, Kimani Vidal has taken over the starting job and performed quite well. He is coming off his best outing of the season, in which he ran for 126 yards and a score on 25 carries, which could slightly limit Hampton's upside, especially for this week.

While his ceiling may be a bit lower in Week 14, given his slightly lower expected workload and a tough matchup against Kansas City, Hampton should reclaim the lead role fairly quickly and carry borderline RB1 upside in the fantasy playoffs.
