Week 13 Fantasy Football Quarterback Outlooks

Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels (elbow) was listed as limited in the team's first practice of the week on Wednesday, according to Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post. Daniels will most likely be officially ruled out for Week 13 against the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football, but there's a chance he'll return in Week 14 against the Minnesota Vikings if he continues to make progress. The 24-year-old second-year signal-caller has not played since suffering a gruesome dislocated left (non-throwing) elbow in the Week 9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Even though the Commanders have lost six straight games to put them well out of playoff contention, it sounds as though Daniels will return when he's cleared in December. The former second overall pick also missed a few games early in the season with a knee injury. In his six games, Daniels has thrown for 1,184 yards, eight touchdowns, and two interceptions.

Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield (shoulder) was held out of the team's first practice of the week on Wednesday with a low-grade AC joint sprain in his left (non-throwing) shoulder, according to the Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud. Mayfield was seen wearing a sling on his left arm in the second half of Sunday night's loss to the Los Angeles Rams, but he has a chance to play in Week 13 against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday if he can get back onto the practice field later this week.

In the event that the 30-year-old veteran isn't ready to play, the Buccaneers are preparing veteran backup Teddy Bridgewater to start in practice this week. Mayfield's ability to play this weekend could be tied to pain management. He's one of the toughest QBs in the league, so if it comes down to that, he'll probably be out there, but he'd be more of a high-end QB2 for fantasy football at likely less than 100%.

Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has been a much better real-life quarterback than a fantasy option this season, but he will look to right the ship against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving in Week 13. Love has had just 24 and 21 pass attempts in the last two weeks and has averaged just 163 passing yards and less than a touchdown per game in his last three games.

That's not going to get it done from a fantasy perspective. With Love rarely approaching any sort of fantasy points ceiling and the Packers very content to run the ball, it crushes any upside for the passing game. Even with multiple members of the Lions' secondary banged up on a defense that's allowed the ninth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, Love is more of a QB2 for two-quarterback fantasy leagues rather than a starter in single-quarterback leagues for Week 13.

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes battled back from an 11-point deficit to defeat the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12, and he will look to carry that momentum into their Thanksgiving matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Mahomes completed 29 of 46 pass attempts (63%) for 352 yards and zero touchdowns. The superstar quarterback did not find the endzone through the air or on the ground while also taking four sacks and throwing an interception. It was a mixed bag for Mahomes because he set a new season-high in passing yardage, but he finished with zero touchdowns for the second time this year.

Both of his zero-touchdown games have come in the past three contests, which is discouraging for fantasy managers, but he could turn it around this week. The Chiefs take on the Cowboys, who have given up the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season. Mahomes was listed on the injury report with a groin injury, but practiced in full all week and does not have an injury designation for Thursday's game. Mahomes is ranked QB1 in our RotoBaller rankings, meaning that fantasy managers can feel confident with him in their starting lineups.

Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals announced on Wednesday that they officially activated quarterback Joe Burrow (toe) from Injured Reserve, and he will make his return on Thursday against the division-rival Baltimore Ravens on Thanksgiving Day. Burrow has finally recovered from surgery to fix a turf-toe injury that he suffered in Week 2. The 28-year-old franchise QB was very close to returning last weekend, but he was held out of the Week 12 loss to the New England Patriots. Cincy's offense will receive a big boost as they look to keep their faint playoff hopes alive.

Burrow has been practicing in full and will take on a Ravens defense that has been much better of late as they have gotten healthier. He will be without receiver Tee Higgins (concussion), but All-Pro wideout Ja'Marr Chase is returning from a one-game suspension. Even with the long layoff, Burrow will be in play as at least a low-end QB1 option for fantasy managers in his return.

Daniel Jones, Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen said that quarterback Daniel Jones (leg) will be listed as limited for Wednesday's walkthrough practice, but he will be good to go for Sunday's divisional game against the Houston Texans, according to Mike Chappell of FOX 59. Jones was also on last week's injury report with a fibula injury, but he eventually returned to a full practice and played in Sunday's overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, going 19-for-31 passing for 181 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions.

The 28-year-old has been a front-runner for Comeback Player of the Year in 2025 in his first year in Indy, having thrown for 2,840 yards, 17 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in 11 games. Jones will be more of a low-end QB2 option in fantasy football this weekend, though, against the No. 1 defense in the NFL.
