Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 12:
Emanuel Wilson, RB, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers running back Emanuel Wilson could see more work than he typically does with the Packers hosting the Minnesota Vikings in Week 12. With Josh Jacobs (knee) leaving Week 11's game due to the injury, Wilson saw an uptick in work and production.
With 12 touches for 49 yards, Wilson saw his second-highest opportunities of the season and his most involvement on the field with a season-high 71 percent of snaps. Minnesota is an above-average defense when it comes to stopping opposing running backs, as they've allowed the 12th-fewest fantasy points per game to the position.
Wilson's fantasy viability comes down to Jacobs' availability on Sunday. If Jacobs, who is questionable on the injury report heading into Week 12, were unable to suit up, Wilson would be a high-end RB3 for fantasy managers. If Jacobs returns, Wilson should be left on the bench for fantasy.
DK Metcalf, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf hasn't reached double-digit fantasy points since Week 8, but he's positioned to rebound against the Chicago Bears in Week 12. The Bears have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points and second-most touchdowns to opposing wideouts this season.
While Chicago's secondary is getting healthier, Pro Bowl cornerback Jaylon Johnson (groin) is listed as questionable and may not be ready to return. Regardless, Chicago's offense should find success at home, so Metcalf's involvement will be important as Pittsburgh aims to keep pace.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers (wrist) is questionable to suit up, but backup Mason Rudolph looked sharp last week and targeted Metcalf on five of his 16 pass attempts. As the WR22 in RotoBaller's Week 12 rankings, Metcalf can be viewed as a low-end WR2 with upside heading into Sunday.
Christian Watson, WR, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson was very productive in Week 11 and looks to keep that run going when the Packers welcome the Minnesota Vikings for an NFC North divisional showdown in Week 12.
Watson scored two touchdowns and caught 4-of-5 targets for 46 yards in the Packers' Week 11 win against the New York Giants. With Watson running at least 80 percent of routes per dropback in his last two games, he is fully entrenched as a top-two target on this Packers team.
Also worth noting is Watson leading the Packers in first-read target share (33.3 percent) and first downs (4), so there has been intent to get Watson involved with target-earning as well. With Watson facing the Minnesota Vikings, Watson is a solid flex play with plenty of upside in Week 12.
Rachaad White, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
With Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving (shoulder, foot) sidelined by injury since Week 4, fellow Bucs back Rachaad White had the first chance to assume the team's RB1 role. However, White is averaging less than four yards per rush attempt this season, and in Week 11, it appeared as though the team made a shift to running back Sean Tucker.
In Tampa Bay's Week 11 loss to the Buffalo Bills, Tucker exploded for 140 scrimmage yards and three touchdowns on 21 touches while White recorded just 62 scrimmage yards on 12 touches. Irving will remain out for Tampa Bay's Week 12 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, which means both White and Tucker will likely get their share of playing time for another week.
White has been a consistent feature in the passing game, recording 20 receptions for 110 yards on 23 targets in the six games Irving has missed. Still, White should be expected to continue to lose work to Tucker in the rushing game and profiles as a low-end flex option for fantasy managers in Week 12 against Los Angeles.
Jordan Mason, RB, Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings running back Jordan Mason should be left out of starting lineups in standard formats when his team travels to Green Bay in Week 12. Mason scored a touchdown in last week's loss to the Chicago Bears, but has seen his workload lessened since Aaron Jones Sr. returned from injured reserve.
With Jones fully healthy the past two weeks, the former San Francisco 49er has played just 25% and 16% of Minnesota's offensive snaps, respectively, which considerably lowers his fantasy ceiling. Additionally, the matchup is not favorable, as Green Bay ranks third in the NFL in yards per rushing attempt allowed.
Added to the Vikings' struggles in the passing game -- quarterback J.J. McCarthy is completing just 53% of passing attempts -- Mason's diminished role has him in RB4 territory for this week.
