Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football waiver wire outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider adding off waivers in Week 10:
David Njoku, TE, Browns
Despite the Cleveland Browns being well out of the playoff hunt and seeing the emergence of a rookie tight end, the team is unlikely to move veteran tight end David Njoku at the trade deadline, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Harold Fannin Jr., a rookie from Bowling Green, has been one of the team's few bright spots on offense, breaking out for 38 catches, 352 yards, and two touchdowns through eight games, which has made Njoku the subject of trade conjecture, but Schefter is reporting the Browns are more likely to buy than sell. For managers, Njoku is still a top-20 fantasy tight end alongside Fannin, but the continued split likely will keep him from being a solid, every-week starting tight end like he had been in years past.
Christian Watson, WR, Packers
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson continues to ease his way back into this offense. On Sunday, Watson hauled in two of his four targets for 58 yards in the loss to the Carolina Panthers. Watson made his season debut in Week 8 after missing the beginning of the season while recovering from a torn ACL. In Week 9, Watson played 66 percent of the offensive snaps, which is 10 percent higher than the week prior.
His role in the offense is likely going to increase with both Tucker Kraft (knee) and Matthew Golden (shoulder) suffering injuries this weekend. Watson could move into flex territory for the Week 10 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Alec Pierce, WR, Colts
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce recorded six catches for 115 yards on a career-high 13 targets in his team's Week 9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pierce has now earned double-digit targets in two out of his last three games and has reached at least 67 receiving yards in five out of the seven games he's been healthy for this season. The 25-year-old has established himself as one of the NFL's premier downfield weapons, as he's currently leading the league in yards per reception (20.9) for the second straight season.
Additionally, Pierce's recent bump in target volume could be a sign that the Colts are trusting him to be a more well-rounded wide receiver. It's worth noting that Colts quarterback Daniel Jones attempted 50 passes in Week 9, a trend unlikely to continue. Still, Pierce profiles as a high-upside fantasy WR3/4 and could be a player to target on the waiver wire heading into a Week 10 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.
DeMario Douglas, WR, Patriots
New England Patriots wide receiver DeMario Douglas had his best game of the season in his team's 24-23 Week 9 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Douglas recorded four catches for a team-best 100 receiving yards and a touchdown on six targets. Douglas was having a quiet season before this breakout game, as he had recorded 14 catches for 162 yards and two scores heading into Week 9. However, there's some reason to believe that this could be more than just a one-off performance.
The Patriots lost wide receiver Kayshon Boutte (hamstring) to a hamstring injury in Week 9. While it's unclear how much (if any) time Boutte will miss, his absence would push Douglas up the target pecking order in New England. The Patriots will travel to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers in Week 10.
Jayden Reed, WR, Packers
It looks as though Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed (collarbone, foot) has "taken a step toward a return to practice," according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN. Reed was "running off to the side" while the rest of the team practiced on Wednesday. Although it appears as though Reed is making progress from a broken collarbone that he suffered in Week 2 against the Washington Commanders, he still has a way to go before being activated from Injured Reserve, as the Packers have yet to open his 21-day practice window.
The 25-year-old had surgery to fix his broken collarbone and is also recovering from surgery to fix a Jones fracture in his foot. There remains no timetable for his return. When Reed returns, he'll be part of a crowded WR mix in Green Bay now that Christian Watson is back from his torn ACL that he suffered in the Week 18 regular-season finale in 2024.
