Top Players To Cut for Week 9 Lineups - Jerry Jeudy, Cam Skattebo, Kendrick Bourne, Xavier Legette, Matthew Golden, Tez Johnson, Kyle Monangai

Matthew Golden - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Rookies

Updated weekend fantasy football cut list rankings for Week 9 of 2025. The top fantasy football players to drop and cut from rosters including Matthew Golden, Cam Skattebo, Tez Johnson, Jerry Jeudy, more.

Welcome back, RotoBallers, to our Cut List Rankings for fantasy football Week 9 of the 2025 NFL season. In Week 8 of the NFL season, managers saw their starting lineups quite shorthanded, as many key players, like Drake London and A.J. Brown, were out with injuries.

On Sunday, several other top players suffered an injury and could be sitting near the top of this week's cut rankings. In this piece, we will look at the 25 most dropped players on Yahoo! over the past 24 hours and determine if we should hold or send them to the waiver wire ahead of Week 9.

So, which injured or disappointing players is it time to get rid of for fantasy football lineups? Read about our top players to cut for Week 9 of the NFL season. Good luck, RotoBallers!

Fantasy Football Drop Candidates

Read the recent news and fantasy outlooks of some of the top cut candidates:

Spencer Rattler, QB - New Orleans Saints (Cut List Ranking No. 4)

New Orleans Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler has been benched during Sunday's Week 8 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Rattler threw three interceptions last week and wasn't having much more success this weekend. He completed 15-of-21 passing attempts for 136 yards with an interception before being pulled in the second half of this game.

Tyler Shough has taken over under center for at least the rest of this game. Given the Saints' record, it wouldn't be shocking if Shough got a chance at the starting gig in the second half of the season. Rattler is safe to cut in all redraft formats.

Cam Skattebo, RB - New York Giants (Cut List Ranking No. 1)

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo (ankle) has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2025 season after suffering a dislocated ankle in Week 8 against the Philadelphia Eagles. It's a brutal blow for an up-and-coming Giants team. Skattebo was already off to a hot start in Philadelphia, handling three carries for 12 yards and catching one of his two targets for an 18-yard touchdown.

The rookie out of Arizona State was having a remarkable rookie campaign to this point, recording 101 carries for 410 yards and catching 24 of 32 targets for 207 yards, in addition to seven total touchdowns. Skattebo's season will end with him averaging 16 PPR points per game, and he will be a tough player to replace for fantasy managers.

Second-year back Tyrone Tracy Jr. is now expected to step back into the lead role for the Giants and should be a priority add off the waiver wire this week.

Quentin Johnston, WR - Los Angeles Chargers (Cut List Ranking No. 25)

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston did not see a target in Thursday night's 37-10 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Johnston has trended in the wrong direction after a remarkable first four games of the season, catching 22 of 36 targets for 337 yards and four touchdowns. The third-year wide receiver missed Week 6, but he has totaled just six catches on 10 targets for 70 yards and a touchdown in three games since, with Week 8 marking the low point.

It was the first game of his career in which he was held without a target and the third game without a reception. The emergence of rookie tight end Oronde Gadsden has made it difficult for all the Chargers' pass catchers to be involved consistently, and Johnston may be the odd man out.

He'll look to bounce back in Week 9 when the Chargers go on the road to face the Tennessee Titans.

Xavier Legette, WR - Carolina Panthers (Cut List Ranking No. 18)

Xavier Legette totally disappointed fantasy players who used him as a lineup plugger in Week 8. The former first-round pick was targeted only three times by Andy Dalton and caught two passes for 17 yards. In a blowout loss to Buffalo, He carried none of last week's momentum over. When Bryce Young was the starter in Week 7, Legette caught. nine passes for 92 yards and a TD.

Dalton naturally prioritized Tetairoa McMillan, and Coker had three targets to Legette's two as the backup QB struggled mightily in a 31-point loss. Head coach Dave Canales mentioned that he hopes Young will be back for Week 9 against the Green Bay Packers. If Young returns next week, the Panthers could be more statistically productive playing from behind vs. Green Bay.

But the recent return of Coker may also prevent Legette from being useful at all. Outside of Week 7, Legette has not caught more than three passes in a game this season. He is a cut candidate for Week 9.

Marvin Mims Jr., WR - Denver Broncos (Cut List Ranking No. 17)

Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. entered concussion protocol following Sunday's Week 8 contest against the Dallas Cowboys, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post. The team never announced an injury status for Mims mid-game, so it's unclear exactly when he suffered the injury. It may have occurred with 4:39 left in the fourth quarter when Mims returned a kick 26 yards.

He finished the game with two punt returns and three kick returns. On offense, he was unable to haul in his lone target. The 23-year-old faces an uphill battle to clear concussion protocol in the seven days between now and Denver's Week 9 contest against the Houston Texans. Perhaps Week 10 against the Las Vegas Raiders is a more reasonable date to target for Mims' return to action.

Pat Bryant will likely step up as the Broncos' No. 3 receiver behind Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin.
