Week 8 Wide Receiver Rankings Outlooks

Sterling Shepard, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

With Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans (collarbone) suffering a broken clavicle in Week 7, which will likely land him on Injured Reserve, Bucs wideout Sterling Shepard appears to be in line for a significant long-term role in the team's offense. With Chris Godwin (leg) also currently sidelined, Shepard looks like Tampa Bay's WR2 alongside Emeka Egbuka.

The 32-year-old Shepard hauled in seven catches for 25 yards on seven targets in Tampa Bay's Week 7 loss to the Detroit Lions, giving him 26 catches for 267 yards and a touchdown on 34 targets so far this season. Shepard is not an explosive downfield player, which limits his ceiling. Still, he's proven to be a trusted target of Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield and should be rostered in fantasy leagues with 12 or more teams.

Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin (fibula) missed his team's Week 7 loss to the Lions on Monday Night Football, and even though he's recovering, head coach Todd Bowles didn't seem confident that the veteran receiver will be ready to return in Week 8 against the Saints. With a bye week in Week 9, the Bucs may play it safe with Godwin, who played two games after returning from his dislocated ankle and broken fibula suffered last season.

This leg injury is in a different place, according to Bowles, but he still looks like a long shot to play in Week 8. If Godwin is out again, he'll join Mike Evans (collarbone) on the sidelines, leaving lots of work for rookies Emeka Egbuka and Tez Johnson, while Cade Otton would also stay more involved as a pass-catching tight end option.

Chimere Dike, Tennessee Titans

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Chimere Dike stepped up with Calvin Ridley (hamstring) sidelined on Sunday against New England. The fourth-round pick from Florida played a season-high 57% of snaps and caught all four of his targets for 70 yards and his first NFL touchdown. Dike has multiple catches in three straight games and five of his last six. He should stay in a key role for the Titans as they look to develop a young core with rookie QB Cam Ward and rookie WR Elic Ayomanor, along with Dike.

The Titans' offense could shift in the next few weeks with the trade deadline approaching and Mike McCoy now in place as the interim head coach. Dike has flashed enough upside, though, that he has to be included in the team's plans, and he is an interesting speculative pickup as the Titans head to Indy in Week 8 and try to keep up with the Colts.

Ricky Pearsall, San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers will continue to monitor wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (knee) this week, and there is no certainty that he will return to face the Houston Texans on Sunday in Week 8, according to Nick Wagoner of ESPN. Pearsall sprained his knee in the Week 4 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars and has missed the last two games as a result. It sounds like the former first-rounder is in danger of missing a third straight game in Week 8, too, depending on how much he can do at practice this week.

The 25-year-old didn't practice at all last week, so he'll just be trying to get on the practice field this week as the team begins preparations for the Texans. With Pearsall out, Jauan Jennings and Kendrick Bourne have been the team's top two wideouts, but most of quarterback Mac Jones' passes have been going to do-it-all running back Christian McCaffrey.

Jakobi Meyers, Las Vegas Raiders

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Pete Carroll told reporters on Monday that wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (knee, toe) "should return" for the Week 9 game on Sunday, Nov. 2, against the Jacksonville Jaguars after the team's Week 8 bye, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Meyers missed Sunday's blowout loss to the Kansas City Chiefs due to knee and toe injuries, but the bye is coming at a good time for the 2-5 Raiders. The 28-year-old should be back in Week 9, but fantasy managers probably aren't going to be in a rush to throw him back into their starting lineups.

Third-year wideout Tre Tucker has been the Raiders' leading receiver this year and has shown more chemistry with quarterback Geno Smith than Meyers has. After asking for a trade earlier this year, Meyers has disappointed with 29 receptions, 329 yards, and no touchdowns in six games in 2025. And when he returns after the bye, Bowers should be back, too, to steal valuable targets away.
