Fantasy Football Drop Candidates
Read about fantasy football players to consider dropping for Week 7:
Chuba Hubbard, RB, Carolina Panthers
Carolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard (calf) has missed the team's last two games due to a calf injury. In that stretch, Panthers back Rico Dowdle has been dominant, recording 473 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns.
Despite Dowdle's breakout, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that Hubbard will "remain a focal point" in Carolina's offense. Fowler also notes that the team is "taking the approach that both players will get their touches regardless of who gets the first snap." Fantasy managers may have to take the approach that both Panthers running backs will see a relatively equal workload once Hubbard returns to the field.
If Hubbard remains out in Week 7, Dowdle profiles as a clear must-start running back in a favorable matchup against the New York Jets.
Alec Pierce, WR, Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce caught two of his four targets for 48 yards in a 31-27 win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6. Pierce made his return to the field after missing the two previous games with a concussion.
The veteran immediately returned to his role as the team's field stretcher, hauling in passes of 26 and 22 yards in the close win. Pierce has just 11 catches on the season but has turned that into 219 yards, good for a 19.9 yards per catch average.
Alec Pierce will now get ready to face off against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 7. He sets up as a boom/bust flex option for that contest.
Ollie Gordon II, RB, Miami Dolphins
Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II has played about 25% of snaps in four of his five games, usually logging about 15 snaps per game. He had a season-high nine carries in Week 3 against the Bills, when he scored his only touchdown of the year as well.
The last two weeks, though, he hasn't been able to move into a larger role. Last week against the Panthers, he only managed -2 yards on three carries against the Panthers. The rookie does have some potential, but De'Von Achane is dominating the workload and production in the Dolphins' backfield for now.
He will likely get some work against the Chargers in Week 6, but as the RB50 in RotoBaller's rankings, he's not a strong play in most leagues since his role has been so limited.
Isaiah Bond, WR, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Isaiah Bond turned in a quiet outing in a 23-9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 6.
Bond caught two of his five targets for nine yards in the loss in his least productive game since Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens. The rookie wideout had been trending upward before the poor outing in Week 6, but now has just 11 catches for 123 scoreless yards in six games.
He will look to bounce back at home in Week 7 against the Miami Dolphins. Fantasy managers can likely find a better flex option sitting on waiver wires this week.
Josh Downs, WR, Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs has seen a more consistent role in the Colts' passing attack over the last few weeks and even managed to find the end zone for the first time this year in the Week 6 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Downs hauled in six of his seven targets for 42 yards and a touchdown.
It was nice to see Downs score for the first time in 2025, and it came with fellow wideout Alec Pierce making his return from a two-game absence due to a concussion. The 24-year-old has caught six passes in back-to-back weeks now, and he has been targeted 15 times in that span.
He has seen at least five targets in each of the last three weeks.Pierce's return will surely make it harder for Downs to maintain that consistency, but it's clear he's a big part of a passing attack in Indy that also includes Michael Pittman Jr. and impressive rookie tight end Tyler Warren. Downs is only rostered in 50% of Yahoo leagues currently. That number should be higher.
