Week 6 Running Back Rankings Outlooks
Tony Pollard, Tennessee Titans
Tennessee Titans running back Tony Pollard continues to be a solid contributor early in the season. Last week, Pollard rushed the ball 14 times for 67 yards and a touchdown in the win over the Arizona Cardinals. Pollard has rushed for 60 yards or more in four of his first five games of the season.
The return of Tyjae Spears figures to slowly take away some of Pollard's value, but for now, fantasy managers shouldn't be worried. Pollard has a plus matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders defense in Week 6. He should be able to offer low-end RB2 value for this weekend. Pollard continues succeeding, so the Titans are likely going to continue feeding him the ball.
Kimani Vidal, Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers running back Kimani Vidal is expected to be part of a running back-by-committee approach in Week 6 against the Miami Dolphins. Vidal is expected to handle more of the pass-catching duties and third-down work in an offense that has been pass-happy so far in 2025, throwing 62.58% according to teamrankings.com. In leagues that are PPR, Vidal should carry a safer floor compared to Hassan Haskins, who is expected to have most of the early-down work and red zone carries.
Most reports from Jim Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Greg Roman suggest that both Vidal and Haskins will be involved, so neither should be viewed or ranked that much higher than the other. The Chargers take on the Dolphins in Week 6, who are currently allowing the fifth most points to the running back position, which is why Vidal is offering some flex appeal in Week 6. Fantasy managers can start him in a pinch, but if they have other stronger options, start them.
Rico Dowdle, Carolina Panthers
Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Brad Idzik alluded to more of a platoon at running back after Rico Dowdle's 200-yard explosion in Week 5 against Miami, according to David Newton of ESPN. The OC said Dowdle having so much success is a "good problem to have" when Chuba Hubbard (calf) returns from injury.
Hubbard, who didn't practice on Wednesday, had been the clear top option for the Panthers, playing in 50-plus percent of the team's offensive snaps every week he appeared. But after Dowdle went for 206 rushing yards, a touchdown, and three catches for another 28 yards, the team obviously liked what it saw. Managers should prepare for the possibility that both backs will play going forward for Carolina.
