Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football waiver wire outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider adding off waivers in Week 6:
Luther Burden III, WR, Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears wide receiver Luther Burden III has had limited opportunity so far through four games, but has made the most of them. He's caught seven of eight targets for 99 yards and a touchdown on the year, with most of that coming in Week 3 against Dallas when he caught all three targets for 101 yards and a touchdown.
He strangely has negative receiving yardage in two of the other three games, but has looked explosive in his time on the field. His snap share hasn't risen to a very interesting level quite yet, sitting at 25.2% for the season. His snap share unfortunately didn't tick up in Week 4 after his breakout Week 3 game, but patience is to be encouraged with Burden.
There are still plenty of mouths to feed in Chicago, but Burden is talented enough to emerge as a factor in Ben Johnson's offense. He's a great stash candidate until things change.
Trevor Etienne, RB, Carolina Panthers
Carolina Panthers rookie running back Trevor Etienne was in line for a bigger workload in Week 5 against the visiting Miami Dolphins on Sunday with starter Chuba Hubbard (calf) ruled out due to injury.
Etienne did play a season-high 20% of the offensive snaps in the 27-24 victory, but he only handled five touches (four carries and one reception), while Rico Dowdle had a career day with 23 rushing attempts for 206 yards and a touchdown. Dowdle also caught three of his four targets for 28 yards in the passing game. Etienne ran for 22 yards on his four carries and picked up seven yards on his lone reception against Miami.
The 21-year-old could be right back to RB3 duties in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys if Hubbard is able to overcome his calf injury and get back on the field at practice this week. Even if Hubbard misses another game, Etienne isn't going to be in play as a starting flex option in fantasy lineups on Sunday.
Tory Horton, WR, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle Seahawks rookie wide receiver Tory Horton scored his fourth touchdown of the season in Week 5 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Seahawks had to substantially increase their passing volume in a high-scoring game against the Bucs.
Horton benefited from the increased volume with four targets and three receptions for 39 yards and the touchdown. Horton still played just 49% of the snaps, but it was still an uptick in usage from Week 4, when he played just 36% of the snaps. Horton is clearly talented. He is demonstrating a nose for the end zone early in the season with an ability to get lost amongst the defensive backs. No. 2 wide receiver Cooper Kupp is still doing a solid job getting open and making tough catches, so his role will not disintegrate.
However, if Horton continues playing like this, the Seahawks will not be able to keep him off the field. For now, Horton is worth a spot on your bench.
