Will Aaron Jones Sr. play in Week 3 for fantasy football? Is Aaron Jones Sr. injured or hurt heading into Week 3 of 2025? Read the latest Aaron Jones Sr. injury report.
Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones Sr. (hamstring) carried the ball just five times and caught one target before suffering a hamstring injury that caused him to be pulled from the rest of the game in the tough loss. Jones is no stranger to injury issues.
This is the latest aliment in a long list of problems for the 30-year-old. One of the biggest criticisms of Jones, and one of the reasons he consistently fell in fantasy drafts, is that he misses a lot of time due to health issues, and is often removed from games due to them.
Jones' injury history is absolutely loaded with problems. His left leg in particular has been put through a metaphorical meat grinder, and at this point, you can expect yearly injuries to that leg before he retires. But what's his current health status, and will he play in Week 3?

Aaron Jones Sr. Fantasy Football Injury Update
Jones injured his hamstring and wasn't able to finish the game. Hamstring injuries are the bane of professional athletes -- while they don't often sideline players for a full season, they have a high rate of recurrence, and can be re-aggravated seemingly without warning.
Hamstring issues also are tough for fantasy managers to navigate, because they often take longer than expected to heal, and players can return and be removed from the injury reports only to play reduced snaps as they cautiously navigate their recovery process.
Vikings HC Kevin O'Connell says C Ryan Kelly and LT Justin Skule are in the concussion protocol. KOC said positive early signs, but that's totally in the hands of medical staff.
RB Aaron Jones is still getting the hamstring evaluated. Likely to be out this week.

Jones dealt with a hamstring injury in 2023, and missed two games as a result. That's a somewhat encouraging sign, but he was two years younger then, and with a less extensive list of injuries, many to the same leg. Frustratingly, that year, the former Green Bay Packer returned two weeks later and scored just 2.4 PPR fantasy points.
He hardly played any snaps that game and ended up missing two more contests after that before returning in Week 7 and playing just 36 percent of the snaps. It was a rocky road from that point on for Jones, who struggled with more injury issues.
So the hamstring issue he's having right now is likely set to significantly impact his available, and fantasy value, moving forward.
Is Aaron Jones Sr. Playing in Week 3?
It's unlikely. Per the above tweet, Jones hasn't yet been officially ruled out for Week 3, but he's "likely" unable to play that week. In his absence, RB Jordan Mason will likely continue to carry a heavy load, and perhaps even RB Ty Chandler will get worked into the offensive rotation.
Aaron Jones Sr. Fantasy Football Outlook for Week 3
In the off chance that Jones did end up playing, he'd be a tough player to start in fantasy football. He doesn't have much value left, now that Mason is handling the majority of the workload. The red flags were all there, as Jones wasn't elusive and struggled massively in short-yardage situations.
Among RBs with 75+ touches in 2024, the least elusive were:
-Kyren Williams (same as Javonte Williams)
-Travis Etienne Aaron Jones, Braelon Allen
-Kareem Hunt, Isiah PachecoTarget Jarquez Hunter, Bhayshul Tuten, Jordan Mason, and Brashard Smith. Braelon isn't good. pic.twitter.com/M68GYpCS6U

Mason easily out-carried Jones in Week 1, logging 15 touches to Jones' mere eight. While Jones salvaged his fantasy day with a receiving touchdown, his role is mainly on passing downs. That isn't really enough to justify starting him in many leagues.
Aaron Jones in 2025:
-Inside the 10-yard line: 0.3 yards per carry
-Inside the 5-yard line: -0.2 yards per carryJones was awful in these short yardage situations. Mason should have at least 8 rush TDs in 2025.

Jones was genuinely one of the league's worst running backs on carries inside the 10 and 5-yard lines. Mason performed much better in those situations. So if Jones does somehow end up playing in Week 3, you should leave him on benches.
