He started first and finished first, too. Denny Hamlin took the checkered flag for the Enjoy Illinois 300 at World Wide Technology Raceway on Sunday afternoon, grabbing his series-leading fifth victory of the season.
Hamlin led a race-high 75 laps on the day and pulled away from his teammate, Chase Briscoe, at the end. Briscoe came home second while Chase Elliott finished third.
With his win, Denny Hamlin is now locked into the Round of 12 for this year's Playoffs, as his his teammate, Chase Briscoe, who won at Darlington last weekend.
