Athletics shortstop Jacob Wilson (forearm), who is on the 10-day injured list with a left-forearm fracture, began a hitting progression on Tuesday and continues to do baseball activities, per Jessica Kleinschmidt of Baseball America. Wilson fractured his forearm in late July but could be back in the big leagues with the A's before the end of August, barring a setback as he ramps up his activities. The contact-oriented Wilson was an American League All-Star in his first full season in the big leagues this year and was hitting a cool .312/.354/.439 in 94 games at the time of his injury. The 23-year-old has limited power, though, and has 10 homers, 45 RBI, 46 runs scored and five stolen bases in 396 at-bats. Until Wilson returns, Darell Hernaiz should continue to operate as the starting shortstop. Based on his quality of contact, Wilson has been very fortunate to hit .312 -- his xBA sits at .284.--Keith Hernandez
