Jake Burger Activated and Starting on Friday
Jake Burger (quadriceps) from the 10-day injured list on Friday and optioned outfielder Alejandro Osuna to Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move. Burger will be the team's designated hitter on Friday and bat seventh in the series opener against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies and tough left-hander Cristopher Sanchez. The 29-year-old Burger is returning for the first time since July 16 due to a left quadriceps strain. The former first-rounder by the Chicago White Sox in 2017 out of Missouri State should play regularly in Texas between DH and first base. Burger hit 34 home runs in 2023 and nearly returned to the 30-homer mark last year, so he has plenty of pop, but also a lot of swing and miss. He's returning to a .228/.259/.401 slash line with 11 home runs, 35 RBI and 33 runs in 75 games in his first year in Texas.
