Byron Buxton Remains Out Wednesday
Byron Buxton (rib) is not ready to come off the 10-day injured list and won't return to the lineup Wednesday against the Detroit Tigers. Alan Roden will play center field in Buxton's place and lead off versus right-hander Jack Flaherty. Buxton has been on the injured list with left rib cartilage irritation since July 27, and he could return to the lineup Friday against the Kansas City Royals. Fantasy managers should check back for further updates on Buxton before then. The 31-year-old slashed an excellent .282/.343/.561 with 23 homers, 59 RBI, 68 runs scored, and 17 stolen bases over 364 plate appearances before he landed on the shelf. UPDATE: Buxton started hitting on Tuesday and did so again on Wednesday. He is upbeat and is picking up his baseball activities. If he continues to trend this way, he could be ready in a couple days, according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic.
