Yankees Aren't Calling Up Spencer Jones Yet
Spencer Jones is currently not a candidate to replace the injured Aaron Judge (elbow) on the team's roster, Andy Martino of SNY reports. Judge will miss at least the next 10 days with a right flexor strain, which could have cleared a path for Jones. The 24-year-old is dealing with back spasms, though, and that's the main reason why he's not on his way to the majors. At 6-7, 240 pounds, Jones is a hulking slugger who has drawn comparisons to Judge. He has been on a Judge-like tear in the minors this season between Double-A and Triple-A, where he has combined to slash .314/.411/.706 with 29 homers, 57 RBI, 69 runs scored, and 16 stolen bases in 302 plate appearances. Thanks to his otherworldly production this year, the Yankees have deemed Jones borderline untouchable in trades as the July 31 deadline nears, according to Martino.
