Shelby Miller to Throw to Live Hitters on Tuesday
Shelby Miller (forearm) will throw to live hitters on Tuesday, according to Arizona Sports' Alex Weiner. Miller will take the next step in his recovery after throwing a bullpen session on Saturday. There's no clear timetable for the 34-year-old veteran's return, although there's a chance he could return to Arizona's bullpen before the end of July if he ends up skipping a minor-league rehab assignment. Anthony DeSclafani saved the D-backs' win over the St. Louis on Sunday, but Kevin Ginkel could also be involved in the ninth inning until Miller is able to return. When Miller is activated from the 15-day injured list, he should immediately return to primary closing duties in the desert. Miller has a sharp 1.98 ERA on the year with a 0.96 WHIP, 40 K's and 10 saves in his 36 1/3 innings out of the 'pen.
