Martin Perez Close to Starting Rehab Assignment
Chicago White Sox left-hander Martin Perez (elbow) is continuing to make progress in his recovery from a flexor tendon strain. After Perez threw a bullpen session on Saturday, White Sox assistant general manager Josh Barfield said the 34-year-old is nearing a rehab assignment. Perez went on the injured list on April 19 after making four starts and racking up 20 innings of 3.15 ERA ball with a 1.25 WHIP, 18 strikeouts, and 11 walks. He'll be a late-season option for Chicago's rotation if he gets through the rehab process unscathed.
