Troy Melton Strikes Out 10 at Triple-A
Troy Melton struck out 10 batters across 5 1/3 innings during their contest against Triple-A Charlotte. This set a new single-game high for Melton at the Triple-A level. The former fourth-round pick from the 2022 MLB Draft was recently promoted to Triple-A Toledo. Through his first 16 innings, Melton has allowed 10 earned runs. However, he has flashed elite command and strikeout potential, allowing just five free passes and tallying 26 punchouts. In addition, he has allowed two runs or fewer in three of his four outings. The San Diego State product opened the season with Double-A and held a solid 3.23 ERA with a 1.31 WHIP across 39 innings of work. If he can continue to find his footing at Triple-A, he could be in the mix to join Detroit late in the second half.
