Mark Vientos to Continue Rehab Assignment Through Wednesday
Mark Vientos (hamstring) is scheduled to play Tuesday and Wednesday on his minor-league rehab assignment at Triple-A Syracuse, according to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo. Barring a setback, the earliest Vientos will return to the Mets' big-league roster will be for this weekend's series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The 25-year-old was hitting a disappointing .230 (43-for-187) with six home runs, 21 RBI and 22 runs scored before straining his right hamstring, and he's gone just 2-for-17 with a double through four rehab games with Syracuse. Although Ronny Mauricio hasn't exactly taken advantage of extra playing time at the hot corner in Queens with Vientos sidelined, the two could form a platoon at third for the Mets once Vientos returns if Vientos can't get going at the plate.
