Hurston Waldrep Punches Out Six on Sunday
Hurston Waldrep tossed six innings of one-run ball en route to picking up the victory over Triple-A Memphis on Sunday. In this outing, Waldrep struck out six batters and allowed seven hits and just one walk. This was a much-needed bounce-back outing for the former 24th overall pick as he allowed a season-high six runs in his last outing on June 8. Through 57 innings with Triple-A Gwinnett this season, Waldrep has had mixed results as he sits with a 5.84 ERA and a 170 WHIP. However, Waldrep has flashed decent strikeout upside, tallying 62 over this stretch. Last season, Waldrep made his MLB debut but only made two starts and served up 13 earned runs. If Waldrep can continue to find his footing at Triple-A, he could be in the mix to return to Atlanta in the second half.
